Phase IV Studies: Studies designed to gather additional data on the efficacy and safety of bio-pharmaceutical products that have already been approved for marketing. Such studies are required by certain regulatory authorities or may be voluntarily undertaken by bio-pharmaceutical companies to boost the database of information on their products.

Effectiveness Studies: Studies assessing the benefits of one or more bio-pharmaceutical products or technologies to a defined population with a specific medical condition under actual or ordinary conditions of use.
